Project Update:
Public Works has wrapped up construction on this project. We've scheduled a ribbon-cutting event to celebrate the moment. Please join us on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the corner of Haight and Ashbury streets.

The project limits span half a mile on Haight Street from Stanyan Street to Central Avenue. Haight Street's new design will build upon the unique local character of the shops, restaurants and murals found along the commerical corridor.
The project includes sewer work, increased pedestrian lighting, tree planting, bulb-outs and curb ramps, bus bulbs, sidewalk replacement, fiber conduit work, street base repairs and repaving. Phase I of the project began in September 2018 and included the sewer main replacement work. Phase II includes the long term safety and streetscape improvements including pedestrian lighting, traffic signal work, tree planting, curb ramps, bus bulbs and more. Phase II began June 2019 and is expected to take approximately two years to complete.
This project includes traffic/pedestrian signal upgrades at several key intersections along Haight Street. The intersections are:
