  • Volunteers arrive at the kickoff location between 8:30 AM and 9 AM and sign in.
  • We’ll hold a short speaking program to go over the day’s activities and get a quick safety overview.
  • Volunteers and Public Works staff then will head to their assigned work sites.
  • Work will take place for about 3 hours, with everyone returning to the kickoff location around noon.

What to Wear/Bring

  • Wear closed toe shoes and sunscreen
  • Bring a bottle of water

Certificates for NBD All Stars!

  • Our volunteer program won’t be possible without the support of our amazing student volunteers. To recognize your effort formally, we will start awarding certificates to All Stars.
  • Bay Area students (ages 7-25) can earn a certificate for attending 6 or more NBD events in 2025.
  • To qualify, student volunteers must sign in twice at each NBD event. Sign your name on a Team registration form and then on a separate potential All Stars Tracker form and include the name of your school.
  • Certificates will be passed out at the September, October, and November NBD events. All Stars should attend those events.

Free Compost

  • Public Works is partnering with SF Environment and SFUSD to bring free compost to you. Free compost will be available at select NBD events. No need to volunteer or register. Sign up here for email alerts of future "Free Compost" events.
