Construction Update February 3, 2025

Segment 3 -Folsom Street 2nd St. to 5th St.

• Bay Area Lighworks (BAL) is installing pole foundations at Folsom & 5th this week. Next week, BAL will start install pole foundations between 5th & 4th Street.  This work will not impact upcoming NBA All-Star event taking place at Moscone Center.

Segment 2 - Folsom Street 5th St. to 8th St.

• Crews are SMPs between 6th & 7th this week, to be finished early next week. Catchbasin and culvert work to follow.
• 24” VCP between Langton & Hallam and manholes at Folsom & Hallam was finished this week. Mitchell Engineering is now continuing with 15” VCP sewer pipe installtion and manholes between Hallam & Rodgers for the next 2-3 weeks.
• Excavate & Install 15'' VCP On Folsom St between Rausch St & Rodgers St. 2/10/25 through 2/21/25.
• Excavate & Install 24'' VCP  sewer pipe and other related work on Folsom St. between 7th to 8th St.  (2-months) starting 1/13/24- 3/13/24.

Segment 1 - Folsom Street 8th St. to 11th St.

• Crews are inslatting manhole cones and backfill between 11th & Juniper.  Once complete, we will restore trenches and smooth the roadway.
• Sub-contractor Bay Area Light Works (BAL) will resume electrical pole insertion work on 1/27/31 at the 10th and 11th Street intersections.  This work will last approximately 1week.

Project Description and Scope of Work:

SF Public Works has hired Mitchell Engineering to perform vital infrastructure improvements along Folsom Street between 2nd Street to 11th Street.  The Folsom Streetscape Project which began in May of 2024 has an overall duration of 2-years, 7-months (950-days) and is divided into three (3)-segments to help minimize impacts along the entire corridor. 

The project scope of work consists of sewer and water replacement, curb ramp reconstruction, pavement renovation landscaping, street lighting, and traffic signals.  

We are aware of the inconvenience caused by construction and apologize in advance. We will do everything possible to minimize the impact of our activities on your neighborhood. If you have concerns (scheduled deliveries, construction questions, accessibility needs, and access) please contact Public Affairs, Dadisi Najib. We will do everything possible to find a mutually agreeable solution.
