This project will involve the renovation and improvement of Eureka Street between 23rd Street and Market Street, Grand View Avenue between Clipper Street and Market Street, Mangels Avenue from Plymouth Avenue to Burnside Avenue and at various locations throughout San Francisco. Work activities to be performed on this project include, but are not limited to:
General Roadway and Pavement Demolition
Installation of new 12-Inch and 18-Inch Sanitary Sewer Line and New Side Sewer Services. Note, temporary service interruptions will be required as new connections are made.
Installation of concrete street at the Mangels Avenue / Edna Street intersection. Note, temporary access interruptions will be required as new street is installed.
Installation of new sidewalk, driveways, curb / gutter, and ADA curb ramps. ADA Curb Ramps will be installed at the following locations along the Mangels Corridor:
All ramps at Colon Avenue, Valdez Avenue, Hazelwood Avenue, Brentwood Avenue, Ridgewood Avenue, Gennessee Street, and Detroit Street on Mangels Avenue. All ramps at Saint Elmo Way and El Verano Way.
The removal / replacement of roadway concrete base and asphalt surface pavements the full width and length of Mangels Avenue from Plymouth Avenue to Burnside Avenue, Saint Elmo Way from Monterey Boulevard to Yerba Buena Avenue, and Miramar Avenue from Monterey Boulevard to Northwood Drive.

Project Updates:
07/10/18: Crews anticipate grinding and paving activity on Mangels to begin the week of 7/16. Crews will grind Mangels between Hazelwood to Foerster on 7/16 and 7/17. Crews will grind Baden to Foerster, Hazelwood to Plymouth and Miramar and St. Elmo streets on 7/18. Crews will perform paving activity on all locations on 7/18 & 7/20. Please see posted "No Parking Signs" for parking restrictions which may vary per block.
06/22/18: Crews will resume ADA curb ramp work on Mangels Avenue at the intersections of Colon and Valdez starting on June 27th, 2018. Curb ramp work is anticipated to take approximately two weeks and final paving of Mangels Avenue is anticipated to be completed by the end of July 2018.
04/25/18: Crews will begin roadway paving work on Grand View Avenue starting on Tuesday, May 1st, 2018. Grinding and paving work will be performed in phases, with each phase anticipated to take approximately two non-consecutive days to complete*.
On the first day of each phase, crews will grind the roadway to prepare it for final paving. Access to enter and exit driveways will be maintained at all times, however minor delays may be possible. Once grinding work is complete, you will be able to drive on the roadway. Please use caution when entering and exiting the roadway and drive carefully.
On the second day of each phase, crews will pave the roadway and apply temporary traffic striping.
Once full paving work is complete, San Francisco Public Works will inspect the newly paved roadway and once approved, final traffic striping and curb painting will be applied by SFMTA.

04/17/18: Crews have completed curb ramp installation work on Grand View Avenue and are working to complete final road base restoration work. Crews anticipate paving work to begin on Grand View starting approximately 4/25. Crews continue to work on curb ramp installation work on Mangels Avenue and will soon begin concrete street panel installation work. Once the concrete street is poured, the panel will require a 10 day cure period. Crews anticipate grinding and paving work on Mangels Avenue to begin in early May.
04/03/18: Crews have completed paving of Diamond Street, Hiliritas Avenue and Moreland Street. On Grand view Avenue, crews are wrapping up side sewer repairs between 21st and 22nd streets. Crews continue to work on ADA curb ramp installation work on Grand View between 25th and Grand View Terrace and road base restoration work. Crews anticipate to begin paving of Grand View Avenue between Clipper and Market streets the week of 04/16. Crews will begin with roadway grinding activity to prepare the roadway for paving, followed by the actual paving, working a few blocks at a time to complete the work. Paving schedule for specific blocks will be shared once it is finalized. On Mangels Avenue, crews continue to work on ADA curb ramp installation work. Crews anticipate working on concrete street panel installation on Mangels at Edna Street, between 410 and 386 Mangels and general road base restoration work starting the week of 4/9. Crews anticipate grinding and paving of Mangels Avenue to begin the week of 4/23.
03/20/18: Crews are wrapping up cistern ring installation work at 21st and Eureka street the week of 3/26. On Grand view Avenue, crews continue with side sewer repair work between 21st and 22nd streets and will continue to replace side sewers as needed through the week of 4/2. Crews also continue to work on sewer main spot repairs at Grand View and Alvarado, 256 Grand View and 323 Grand View and ADA curb ramp installation work between Alvarado and 25th along with ongoing road base restoration work. Final roadway paving on Grand View is anticipated to occur in mid to late April. On Mangels Avenue, crews continue to work on sewer main installation, catch basin and culvert work and will soon begin side sewer repairs between Nordhoff and Congo. On Diamond Street, road base work has been completed and crews will begin roadway grinding and paving activity the week of 3/26.
03/06/18: Crews will return to Eureka Street to complete installation of a brick cistern identification ring at the intersection of 21st and Eureka this week. Work is anticipated to take approximately two days to complete and will involve chipping into the roadway and laying the brick. On Grand View Avenue, crews are continuing with sewer main and manhole installation work between 21st and 22nd streets. Crews anticipate starting work on side sewers the week of 3/19. Crews will also perform sewer main spot repair at Grand view and Alvarado from 3/14 to 3/16 and spot repair work in front of 256 Grand View. Crews are wrapping up curb ramp work between 22nd and 25th streets this week and will begin curb ramp work at Grand View Avenue and Grand View Terrace starting 3/12. On Mangels Avenue, crews anticipate wrapping up 12" sewer main installation work between Nordhoff & Congo by Friday 3/9. Crews will begin side sewer repairs next week starting on 3/15. Crews will complete 8" sewer main sport repair work on Mangels between Congo & Detroit from 3/12 to 3/14. On Diamond Street, crews will complete road base work between 3/7 and 3/13. Final grinding and paving work on Diamond Street will begin the week of 3/26.
02/26/18: While primary construction and paving activity has been completed on Eureka, crews will return to the area to install a cistern ring in the intersection of 21st and Eureka the week of 3/5/18. SFMTA will also paint final traffic striping on the roadway in the next few weeks. On Grand View Avenue, crews continue to excavate and perform sewer main and manhole installation work between 21st and 22nd. Crews are excavating through solid rock in the area and anticipate completing sewer main installation work by mid-March. Crews will follow up with sewer spot repair at Grand View and Alvarado and at 256 Grand View. Crews have begun ADA curb ramp installation work on Grand View between 22nd and 25th. Curb ramp work is anticipated to continue through the end of next week, 3/9/18. Following completion of curb ramp work between 22nd to 25th, crews will begin on curb ramps at Grand View Avenue and Grand view Terrace. On Mangels Avenue, crews have completed side sewer repairs between Gennessee and Ridgewood and sewer main spot repair between Congo & Detroit. Crews have begun sewer main installation work between Nordhoff and Congo, which is anticipated to continue through the end of next week, 3/9/18. Crews will then begin on side sewer repairs on 3/12/18. Final roadway grinding and paving in all remaining areas is anticipated to be completed by the end of April 2018.
02/08/18: Crews have completed parking strip work and paving activity on Eureka Street between Market and 23rd Street. Crews will next conduct a final inspection of the roadway. Once approved, SFMTA will install final traffic striping. Crews will also return at a later date to install a water cistern ring at 21st and Eureka. That installation date is TBD. On Grand View Avenue, crews have begun sewer main and manhole installation work between 21st and 22nd streets. Crews are excavating through solid rock, so progress has been greatly reduced. Crews anticipate working in the area through the end of the month and through mid-March to complete sewer and ADA curb ramp work. On Mangels Avenue, crews are continuing with side sewer work between Gennessee and Ridgewood streets. Crews anticipate sewer main installation between Nordhoff and Congo streets starting the week of February 19th. On Diamon Street, crews continue to work on ADA curb ramp installation work and will continue curb ramp and sidewalk work through the week of February 19th. Roadbase restoration work on Diamond is anticipated to begin the week of February 26th. On Hiliritas Avenue, crews completed 1/2 of the concrete street installation work. Crews will begin work on the next 1/2 of the street starting on Monday, February 12th. Crews will demo the existing street and then pour the new concrete street, followed by a 10-day curing period.
01/22/18: Crews have begun roadway grinding work on Eureka Street in preparation for final roadway paving. Crews previously laid down temporary pavement and will grind that and the roadway down to make room for the final layer of asphalt. Crews will pave on a block by block basis on Eureka, starting with paving between 23rd and 20th on 01/23 and from 20th to Market on 01/26. Paving work is anticipated to last through the end of the week. Crews DO NOT anticipate working Wednesday 01/24/18 in anticipation of a rain day. Crews will then adjust street castings as needed and Public Works will conduct a final inspection of the roadway. Once approved, SFMTA will complete final traffic striping and will demobilize any remaining equpiment and materials from the area, at which point, construction activity on Eureka Street will be complete. On Grand View Avenue, crews anticipate resuming sewer main installation work between 21st and 22nd startin gon Monday 1/29. Crews will also begin ADA curb ramp installation work on Diamond Street starting Monday, 1/29 and anticipated to continue throught mid-February 2018. Crews will also begin installation of a new concrete street on Hiliritas Avenue starting Monday, 1/29 and anticipated to continue through the end of February 2018.
01/16/18: On Eureka Street, crews are wrapping up road base repairs and anticipate completing road base work on Friday, 01/19. Crews will begin paving preparation work (roadway grinding) on Eureka Street between Market and 23rd Street, starting Monday 01/22 through Friday, 01/26. As crews grind the street, crews will follow and complete final roadway paving. Paving will begin Tuesday 01/23 and is anticipated to continue through 02/02. Once SFMTA reviews and approves paving work, crews will paint on final traffic striping, which will be done a few weeks after final paving work is complete. Crews will resume sewer work on Grand View Avenue starting the week of 01/22. Crews will complete side sewer repairs on Grand View between 24th and 25th on 01/22 and 01/23 and will begin sewer main and manhole installation work on Grand View Avenue between 21st and 22nd streets starting Wednesday, 01/24 and anticipated to continue through the end of February. Crews will begin curb ramp work on Diamond Street starting Thursday, 01/18. Work is anticipated to continue through the end of February.
