Winter 2024 Project Update
Beginning Monday, December 2, 2024, and continuing for two weeks, our contractor will resume repaving Sunset Blvd. from Taraval Street to Noriega Street. During the first week, crews will work in the northbound direction, followed by southbound work in the second week.
As the holiday season approaches, we are taking steps to ensure public safety in our work zones. Construction activities will pause for the last two weeks of the year, with work scheduled to resume in early January. We anticipate completing this project by mid-February. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Motorists using Sunset Blvd. should expect delays and allow extra travel time. The traffic lanes along this portion of Sunset Blvd. will be temporarily reduced from three lanes to one. If possible, please avoid the area and use alternate routes.
The remaining blocks of Sunset Blvd., between Taraval Street and MLK Drive will be paved at a later date.
The Sunset Boulevard Pavement Renovation Project includes construction of 23 new curb ramps, 20 bus pads, street base repairs and repaving along 44 blocks of Sunset Blvd. Repaving of Sunset Blvd. will include over 12,000 tons of new asphalt and will cover over 880,000 square feet.
