Contract No. 65 New Traffic Signals

San Francisco Public Works has partnered with SFMTA to improve safety at several intersections throughout the city. Contract No. 65 New Traffic Signals will add new traffic signals at 8 key intersections

Every year in San Francisco, about 30 people lose their lives and over 500 are severely injured while traveling on city streets. These deaths and injuries are unacceptable and preventable. In 2014, the City and County of San Francisco adopted Vision Zero as a policy, with the goal of building better and safer streets in San Francisco. These improvements will increase safety for pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists.

The scope of work will include excavation at the intersections, new traffic pole installation and electrical conduit work. Some intersections will also include curb ramp installation.

The intersections scheduled for improvements are listed below:

  • 9th Street - San Bruno & Division
  • Kezar Drive and Lincoln Way
  • Hattie Street and Market Street
  • Loomis Street and Oakdale Avenue
  • Alemany Boulevard and Rousseau Street
  • Alemany Boulevard and Theresa Street
  • Alemany Boulevard and Lawrence Avenue
  • Sloat Boulevard and Skyline Boulevard  - This is the only remaining location. Scheduled for construction in May 2024.
